The road to agency new business chief is paved with former account leaders. The latest example is Kingsley Taylor.
Taylor, the new director of new business at David&Goliath, was previously a client service director at Mile 9 and a global business director at Ogilvy & Mather. Early in his career, he also held account management jobs in the U.K. at agencies like WDMP and G2. Along the way, he worked on business from the likes of Qualcomm, British American Tobacco and United Biscuits.
And while Taylor contributed to business development at Ogilvy and Mile 9, David&Goliath offers him a chance to run agency marketing, marketer prospecting and pitch management. In that role, he succeeds chief marketing officer Claudia Caplan, who left the El Segundo, Calif-based agency in February 2012. (Since then, group account director Jennifer Rusin has managed business development on an interim basis.)
Reflecting on the hire, David&Goliath founder and chief creative officer David Angelo described Taylor as an entrepreneurial thinker who has experience working on the industry’s most challenging brand sectors categories. In sum, Angelo was impressed with his “track record, global perspective and passion for the business.”
Taylor’s challenge at David&Goliath is to deepen and diversify the account base beyond Kia, the California Lottery and Universal Studios Hollywood. Other accounts at the 150-person shop include The Art Institutes and Argosy University.
