The Clio Awards has named stylist and designer Patricia Field a winner of this year's Honorary Clio Award.
Field is the second recipient of the award to be named this year, after musician and entrepreneur Will.i.am. Both will accept the award during the 54th annual Clio Awards ceremony, hosted by Modern Family actor Eric Stonestreet at the Museum of Natural History on May 15.
The Clio Awards is owned by Guggenheim Digital Media, parent of Adweek.
While the Clio Awards focuses on celebrating the best of advertising, the Honorary Clio Award has since 2009 recognized the careers of exceptional creative professionals not necessarily working in the ad industry. The 2012 Honorary Clio winners were photographer Annie Liebovitz and TV food personality Anthony Bourdain.
“Patricia Field and will.i.am established their impressive legacies by channeling their originality and making bold choices, inspiring creativity and risk-taking for a new generation of artists and creative professionals” said Nicole Purcell, executive director, Clio Awards. “They embody the values the Clios represent by encouraging us to think differently.”
Field is perhaps best known for work designing the costumes for Sex and the City, which earned her five Emmy nominations, including one win in 2002. She has also designed costumes for haute-sensibility films The Devil Wears Prada (2006) and Confessions of a Shopaholic (2009). She designs her own fashion line, and has created collections for brands including Payless, Rocawear, and Coca-Cola. In 2011, she acted as a spokesperson for feminine hygiene brand U by Kotex.
